The news around the luau table has been the rumors that Southwest Airlines has purchased planes capable of reaching Hawaii. The unknown is when they will make the announcement that they will expand to the lucrative Hawaii market. While speculation runs amok, Alaska Airlines announced today an increase in service and a great deal to boot.
Perhaps it was a strategic move by Alaska Airlines to increase service to take advantage of the lack in competition from the legacy carriers. Whatever theory you prescribe to the good news is that they have offered a terrific spring airfare sale to boot.
They will double their service to Kauai and in fact will offer daily service to all four major Hawaiian islands from both San Jose and Oakland.
The fare is $179 each way including tax. You need to purchase by March 15, booking at Alaska Airlines Travel dates are April 23, 2012 through may 16, 2012. This is for Monday thhrough Friday travel only.
