Na Lei Hiwahiwa Elima at the Kauai Beach Resort, 808.246-2111 for tickets, 6-9pm. A May Day celebration like no other that you have experienced. The Hawaiians celebrate this annual event with all the colors and splendor of our island. Contemporary Hawaiian entertainment will accompany the beauty of the lei.
St. Catherine School Carnival 5-11 pm May 4 and May 5 on the campus. Celebrate local Hawaiian culture, sample locally grown foods, and festivities. Games and rides for all ages.
Slack Key Concert at the Hanalei Community Center. 808.826.1469. This event will be held throughout the month with different musical selections all in the slack key style.

32nd Annual Lei Contest and May Day Celebration at the Kauai Museum. 10.30am to 2pm. Lei masters will be demonstrating their craft and the history of the lei and its importance in Hawaiian culture. Guests can wander the grounds and enjoy great local food at this popular annual event. From 11am to 3 pm the museum will be open for viewing. Admission is only $2 for visitors and free to residents of Kauai
Slack Key Concert at the Safeway Shopping Center in Wailua. If you missed any of the series in Hanalei you can check this out every Saturday this month. This is a Free Event.
Mahaulepu Beach cleanup begins at 9am adjacent to the Grand Hyatt Kauai. Refreshments to be served. Afterwards walk the Mahalepu trail.
The Third Annual ‘Passion for Purses’ High Tea and Auction. 1-4pm at the Kauai Beach Resort. Call Debby at 245.2873 Ext. 221 for tickets. Donations from the auctions helps Hale ‘Opio Kauai provide a better future for Hawaii youth.
An Evening with Marlene Sai. 6-8pm at the Kauai Museum. Call 245.6931 for tickets. Ms. Sai has been performing for more than 50 years. In 2004 she received the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Best Female Vocalist. Proceeds benefits the Kauai Museum’s cultural and education departments.
Kauai Orchid Society’s 20th Annual Mothers Day Show and Sale at the Kukui Grove Shopping Mall, 9am till 5pm. Do you love the delicate colors of orchids? If so come see what local orchid growers have been doing this past year. The growers will ship certified orchids to the mainland for you. Bring a piece of Kauai home with you forever.
Charity Walk Kauai. Meet at the Kauai County Historical Building in Lihue, 6.30am till noon. This annual visitor industry charity walk will tour Lihue town all for a great cause. Great food and entertainment follows.

Kauai Polynesian Festival at Vidinha Stadium in Lihue. Call Kapu at 335.6466. Your complete introduction into all that is Hawaiian culture. This 3 day event will feature Polynesian dance competitions, Hawaiian handicrafts, local food. Hawaiian hula, Tahitian Ori, Samoan fire and knife dance. Maori dance from New Zealand. Male and female competitions fro four years and up compete in different age brackets and categories.

May Day by the Bay
At the Waiola Beach Park in Hanalei 9am to 6pm. A fun filled day of Hawaiian music in one of the most beautiful settings in the world.

The 2012 Banana Poka Roundup in the meadow fronting the Kokee Museum 10am to 3pm. Hawaiian music, basket making, crowing contest and much more.
Pedal to the Meadow Bicycle Race
Meet at 8am at the Haul cane intersection at Kokee Rd. at the traffic light. The 15.75 mile race will climb from sea level to 3,835 feet. Ends at the Meadow and the Banana Poka Festival.
